This is some detail from my forthcoming 4 panel, 200 megapixel mosaic of IC 2177, a complex emission nebula 3,800 lightyears from Earth. Sometimes referred to as the Seagull Nebula, I found the \u201cunderside\u201d of the \u201cwings\u201d to hold tantalizing details of the complex structures that lay behind the intense glow of ionized hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur.\n\n\n\n
I combined multiple images captured with narrowband filters into this image in the ForaxX color palette.\n\n\n\n
