Jake planned on preparing the usual, oatmeal with milk, but the moment he stepped inside the kitchen, he lost his tracks. There on the table were three plates of freshly made pancakes with jam and fruit.\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cGirls, did you see this?\u201d he asked, puzzled.\n\n\n\n</p><p>Lily\u2019s eyes widened. \u201cWow, pancakes! Did you make them, Daddy?\u201d\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cNo, I didn\u2019t. The lawn, which Jake hadn\u2019t had time to mow, was neatly cut. \u201cThis is getting weird,\u201d Jake muttered to himself and went on to check the house again, but nothing was out of the ordinary.\n\n\n\n</p><p>The following morning, he decided to find the answer to the question that bothered him all night, so he woke up at around 6 am and hid in the kitchen. To his surprise, he saw a woman climbing through the window.\n\n\n\n</p><p>She was wearing some worn out clothes and started doing the dishes right away. You made those pancakes, right? Please, tell me why you\u2019re doing this? Don\u2019t be afraid of me, I\u2019m the father of the girls and would never harm a woman, especially when you\u2019ve helped me so much.\u201d\n\n\n\n</p><h2 class='\"wp-block-heading\"' id='\"h-the-mysterious-woman-then-stopped-and-turned-her-face-towards-jake-she-did-look-familiar-but-he-couldn-t-recall-where-he-had-seen-her-before\"'>The mysterious woman then stopped and turned her face towards Jake. The girls followed him to the kitchen curious to see who had visited them. The woman was standing next to the window, ready to bolt.\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cPlease, don\u2019t leave,\u201d Jake said gently. \u201cI just want to talk and thank you.\u201d\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cWho is she, Daddy?\u201d Lily asked.\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cLet\u2019s find out together,\u201d he replied. Turning to the woman, Jake added, \u201cPlease, sit down. I was severely dehydrated and could have died. When I woke up, you were gone, but I convinced the parking guard to tell me your car number. I found out where you lived and decided to thank you.\u201d\n\n\n\n</p><p>Jake suddenly realized. \u201cI remember now. You were in terrible shape. My ex-husband tricked me, brought me from Britain to America, took everything, and left me on the street. I had nothing and no one to turn to.\u201d\n\n\n\n</p><p>Emma and Lily listened intently, their small faces filled with concern. \u201cThat\u2019s so sad,\u201d Emma murmured softly.\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cBut why are you here?\u201d Jake couldn\u2019t help but wonder.\n\n\n\n</p><p>\u201cYour help gave me the strength to keep going. I went to the embassy and told them my story. They helped me get new documents and connected me with a lawyer to fight for my son. I got a job as a postal worker. But I wanted to repay you, to show my gratitude. I just wanted to help,\u201d Claire answered, looking ashamed.\n\n\n\n</p><p>In order to cheer her up, the girls thanked her for the pancakes and noted they were really tasty.<img decoding='\"async\"' src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/go.ezodn.com%5C/utilcave_com%5C/ezoicbwa.png%5C%22" alt='\"Ezoic\"'>\n\n\n\n</p><p>Taking a deep breath and feeling relieved for learning who make the pancakes, Jake said, \u201cClaire, let\u2019s do this differently. No more sneaking in, okay? How about you join us for breakfast now and then? We can get to know each other better.\u201d\n\n\n\n</p><h2 class='\"wp-block-heading\"' id='\"h-claire-was-happy-to-accept-the-generous-offer\"'>Claire was happy to accept the generous offer.\n\n\n\n</h2><p>She then shared her life story and explained that she was trying to reunite with her son. After hearing that, Jake agreed to help her fulfill that dream of hers.
