Donald Trump made a conflicting statement last month when he suggested that stimulus checks from tariff revenue would range anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000.

Then, on his social media platform Truth Social last week, Trump said the payments would be $2,000 per person, with few details.
The main detail was that the tariffs would be paid to lower-income households in the US.
This confusion was felt by the press when they asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt about the check proposal.
FOX 5‘s reporter Violet Jira said that it was difficult to say what would happen.

She said: “Since that Truth Social post from Trump, we’ve gotten more details.
“For example, he said that the checks would be going to middle to low income people.
“Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that would be individuals or families who make $100,000 or less.
“So we’re getting more details about the plan, but as for whether or not this actually comes to fruition, it’s a bit difficult to tell.
