Tensions escalated quickly outside the Krome Detention Facility after a large group of protesters attempted to block the surrounding streets, leading to the arrest of 31 individuals. The demonstration, which began as a coordinated protest against federal immigration enforcement, rapidly grew chaotic as protesters refused to clear roadways despite repeated warnings from authorities.
According to officials, the group formed a human blockade across the main entrance road, halting traffic and preventing vehicles—including government and emergency units—from passing through. Officers arrived on scene and used loudspeakers to order the crowd to disperse, but many protesters remained defiant, chanting and linking arms to reinforce their blockade.
Witnesses reported seeing officers give multiple opportunities for the crowd to move voluntarily before arrests began. Once law enforcement initiated crowd-control procedures, several protesters sat on the ground, forcing officers to physically lift them and carry them to transport vans.
